Invitation for Articles for National Bulletin of Public Health
Perhaps you have been already informed that, “National Bulletin of Public Health” (NBPH) is the first, open access, national, peer-reviewed public health bulletin from the Government of Bangladesh, organized and published by IEDCR with the technical support of Bloomberg Philanthropies and US-CDC Foundation. It is a bilingual bulletin, composed in English and Bengali and available both in print and online version on https://iedcr.gov.bd/index.php/component/content/article/210-nbph. This allows free access to its contents. The NBPH is dedicated to publishing research/ news/ awareness/ promotion/ information related to Public Health (PH) from all disciplines and or practice. We are confident that NBPH will be one of the most appropriate communication bulletins in the near future.
The types of articles accepted in this quarterly bulletin will include original surveillance reports, information on emerging diseases, research articles, review articles, research notes, medical news, short communications, correspondence, perspectives and new drug updates, adverse drug reactions, preventive health measurements, mass awareness abstracts and things related to health literacy.
The theme of upcoming issue is ‘Child Health’.
You are cordially invited to submit your valuable work related to child health within 500-1500 words (better if with Bengali translation) for publication in the upcoming issue by the 31st January 2020.

Press Release: Award Giving Ceremony of One Health Epidemiology Fellowship Program
The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare hosted the Awards Ceremony on 1st June, 2017 celebrating successful completion of the two-year One Health Epidemiology Fellowship Program. The Ceremony was chaired by Professor Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora, Director, IEDCR. Professor Dr. Kamrul Hasan Khan, Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) graced the occasion as chief guest. Dr. A.H.M Enayet Hussain, ADG (Planning and Development) & Line Director, NCDC and Dr. Peter D Jolly, Program Director, International Development Group of Massey University, New Zealand was present as special guests. Professor Dr Mahmudur Rahman, former Director of IEDCR, Professor Nitish Debnath, coordinator of One Health Bangladesh and Professor Dr Abdul Ahad from Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) were also in the meeting.
Speakers of the programs praised the visible impact of the program for workforce development in One Health. All of them emphasize on such one health workforce development program for the benefit of the country. Government partners and organizers again showed their commitment to work with external collaborators for such successful future programs.
The two-years One Health Epidemiology Fellowship Program was funded by European Union under the One Health Program in Asia, and implemented by Massey University of New Zealand in partnership with IEDCR and CVASU. The graduating Fellows comprised two medical doctors and four veterinarians ¬including two from animal health and two from wildlife health, who successfully completed this demanding program.
US Ambassador His Excellency Mr Dan Mozena visited IEDCR
US Ambassador His Excellency Mr Dan Mozena visited IEDCR on January 19th 2012. During his visit he had a discussion with IEDCR scientists where, Professor Mahmudur Rahman, Director IEDCR first briefed him on IEDCR activities. Mr Mozena enquired after the Public Health Emergency Management by IEDCR. He underscored the importance of disease control at any point for the better health of mankind globally. He also visited IEDCR laboratories. He wished and thanked the National Rapid Response Team for its dedicated contribution in disease control.

A Team worked on revision of the 2nd National Plan, Avian and Pandemic Influenza Preparedness and Response, Bangladesh 2009-2011. Members of the team are from DGHS, IEDCR, DLS, BLRI, NIPSOM, and Dept. of Forestry.
